Global Feast : New York

I took advantage of my friends' visit to NY and finally made it to Pok Pok NY in Brooklyn. My friends are from Seattle and they had already been to The Pok Pok in Portland but they said they loved it so much and they wanted to go to the one in NY.

I only have a picture of three items here to show you. That tells you how excited I was. Most of the food ranged from a little spicy to very spicy. But if you can't take spicy food like me, there are a few items that are not spicy at all which turned out to be our table's favorites. Besides the three items in the photos above, we had boar meat in curry sauce and fried whole porgy fish. And of course some sticky and Jasmin rice to go with them. I have heard that their fish sauce wings are the number one seller but I liked the boar in curry sauce the best.

And they make really good cocktails. I had a Thai beer but some had Pok Pok Bloody Mary and it was really amazing.

Pok Pok Phat Thai was in my neighborhood but it was closed last year. It is kind of hard to get to the real Pok Pok by subway from Manhattan but it is a good excuse to leave Manhattan. As is usually the case for Asian cuisine I recommend you to go with group and eat a family style meal.
